Paladins, the multiplayer free-to-play shooter by Hi-Rez Studios, has finally made its way to consoles. The open beta is now live on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Paladins has been out on PC for some time now, originally releasing in open beta on PC in September of 2016. Since its launch, the game has fought its way into the Steam Top 10, added a few new heroes, and adjusted its gameplay and monetization. The closed beta for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One began only a few weeks ago. The open beta will coincide with a Double Gold weekend from May 3 until May 7th, and a new cinematic trailer was released alongside the announcement:

Players on both consoles will be able to play the game in a relatively standard free-to-play model. Currency is earned throughout gameplay, and that currency can be used to purchase new heroes as well as “cards” for the heroes which allow you to fine-tune their abilities to taste. Hi-Rez adjusted the currency model and Legendary cards earlier this year which resulted in a bit of backlash from the community.

The more competitively-minded players might be interested to know that Dreamhack is hosting tournaments for Paladins for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Players will be competing for a first place prize pool of $25,000.

If you’d like to check out Paladins, head on over to the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store to get it for those respective consoles. On the off chance you haven’t yet played it on PC, you can download it directly from Hi-Rez or get it on Steam.

What do you think of Paladins making its way to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4? Will you be taking the time to check out the game on either of these consoles? What do you think of the game overall? Let us know in the comments below!
