At this point, it’s no surprise that Blizzard Entertainment is working on the next themed event coming to their popular hero shooter Overwatch. They kicked off the first batch of events earlier this year with the Summer Games, which featured a Rocket League-like game mode with all players playing as Lucio, and the recent Halloween event saw players take up the role of one of the characters in Reinhardt’s story about Professor Junkenstein in a wave-based co-op game mode. Now, a collection of datamined audio files are teasing some of the content coming to Overwatch before long!

The newest character added to the game is Sombra, which has slowly been assimilated into the meta since her inclusion. The audio files mined largely center around Sombra and various other characters, of which none seem to be very fond of the Mexican hacking prodigy.

In addition to the banter between Overwatch characters, the datamine also revealed some additional audio that seem to belong to an as of yet unannounced arena, with the game’s announcer referencing gladiators and challengers. Perhaps this’ll be similar to Hearthstone‘s arena where players can buy into the matches with in-game gold or real money (although the latter seems likely for Overwatch). Maybe this will be the music playing during the loading screen? On the topic of music, this piece discovered in the files seems to be a perfect fit for a potential Winter-themed event.

Whatever this might turn out to be, let’s hope Blizzard Entertainment takes this opportunity to supply the community with a Father Christmas skin for Reinhardt and some ugly Christmas sweaters for Soldier 76 with the likely Overwatch winter event.

What do you think about the datamine? What do you hope to see when the inevitable Christmas event gets officially announced? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
