Fans of shooters and talented cosplayers alike have some choices to make – Overwatch Cosplay Battle voting begins today according to a press release from Blizzard Entertainment.

The Overwatch Cosplay Battle is pretty much what it sounds like. Teams of experienced cosplayers from the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Spain, Italy, and Germany will have several weeks to make a cosplay from scratch. A pretty serious prize is on the line for this one, too!

Of course, what they’re making will have to be determined somehow. This decision has been left up to a community vote. Overwatch Cosplay Battle voting will take place for each of the six teams over the next few days via Twitter polls. Each team has three potential heroes to choose from. Here are the teams and their choices:

  • United Kingdom: Forest Spirit Orisa, Specimen 28 Winston, Sharkbait Roadhog
  • France: Magni Torbjörn, Dracula Reaper, Huntress Widowmaker
  • Russia: Classic D.Va & Mech, Classic Zenyatta, Cultist Zenyatta
  • Spain: Baihu Genji, Engineer Brigitte, Demon Hunter Sombra
  • Italy: Van Helsing McCree, Blackwatch McCree, Blackwatch Genji
  • Germany: Dragon Symmetra, Banshee Moira, Shieldmaiden Brigitte

Four of the six countries are officially represented in-game by a character. Strangely, these respective teams didn’t all get the opportunity to represent one of their futuristic homegrown heroes. The newest hero Ashe isn’t among the choices, either.

After the Overwatch Cosplay Battle voting is completed, each of the six teams will have three months to build their costplay. A second vote for a community favorite will take place between March 18 and March 24, 2018. The judges include two experienced cosplayers, Blizzard Entertainment Visual Effects artist Rachel Day, and Blizzard Entertainment Lead Character Artist Renaud Galand.

The winners of the contest will be announced on March 26, 2018. Whoever emerges victorious will take home a stellar prize: each member of the winning team will take home a brand-new 3D printer and associated materials valued at €2,500.

The whole shebang sounds like it’s gonna be fun to watch! Make sure you head on over to the official website for the Overwatch Cosplay Battle and cast your vote for each of the six teams!
