The end is near. We fought together, we won together, and we lost together, but soon we will have our rest. For a couple of weeks, that is. Yes, season one for Overwatch's Competitive Play is coming to a close. Season one will officially end on Wednesday, August 17th at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. For help converting that into your time zone to find out when season one officially ends for you, the Battle.net forums recommend you go here. Speaking of the Battle.net forums, it was there where we first heard when the first season of Competitive Play would be coming to a close. Season two is scheduled to launch on September 6th according to Blizzard, but they also stated that this date could still change. Expect a more concrete date and time for season two's launch sometime in the future.

So, after hours and hours of slaving away trying to raise our competitive ranks, what are we going to get for it? Well, Blizzard has a few rewards lined up for us. Just by completing all ten of your placement matches during season one, you will receive an exclusive spray and player icon. All you have to do is log into your account after the season ends and both these items will be there for you to equip. On top of that, if you managed to break into the Top 500 players at any point during season one, you will receive an extra player icon and animated spray. Keep in mind that these rewards are given to players who crack the Top 500 at ANY point during the season, specifically on that platform and in that region. Way more than just 500 people are going to be getting these two items on top of the two items you already receive just for completing your placement matches.

Is that all? Thankfully the answer is no. At the end of the season, you will receive a number of Competitive Points based off of the maximum skill rating that you achieved during season one. Not the skill rating that you end season one with, the max rank you achieved at any point during the season. In case you forgot, Competitive Points are the currency you receive for winning matches in Competitive Play that can be used to purchase golden guns/weapons for any of the Overwatch heroes. Check out the full breakdown for Skill Rating (SR) to Competitive Points (CP) conversion below:

  • SR 0-39: 10 CPs
  • SR 40-45: 20 CPs
  • SR 46-49: 40 CPs
  • SR 50-52: 60 CPs
  • SR 53-55: 80 CPs
  • SR 56-59: 120 CPs
  • SR 60-64: 200 CPs
  • SR 65+: 300 CPs

What did you think of season one of Overwatch Competitive Play? What do you think should be improved upon moving forward to season two? Are you happy with your final Skill Rating? Yeah, me neither. Let us know in the comment section below!
