In the immortal words of the Megas XLR theme song, we all dig giant robots. Be they foes of Godzilla, mobile suits or just armored tanks, mecha are one of the great genres of science fiction. They also make a great toy as evidenced by the continued popularity of the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. Unfortunately, Mattel hasn't put out a video game starring the Red Rocker just yet. Those looking for robot fighting fun while they wait for that might turn to Override: Mech City Brawl.

The first big project out of a small team in Brazil, Override looks to offer a unique fighting experience. Giant mechanical fighters with various designs battle for supremacy amidst packed metropolitan areas. Each fighter has special abilities and an ultimate move, similar to another arcadey action title with Over in the name. To keep the comparisons going, Override has loot drops that allow you to customize your robots with goofy accessories.

While The Balance Inc. takes obvious inspiration from Blizzard's hero shooter, Override brings a few unique qualities to the table. The most notable is the game's co-op system, which lets multiple players pilot a mech's limbs Voltron style. You can play with your friends either online or on the couch in many different combinations of versus and co-op. Even if you're playing single player, you'll be controlling each limb separately, similar to a Tekken title.

Speaking of, the game features a full solo campaign straight from the jump, something that Overwatch is still dancing around. If you're all alone, you can take your chosen mechanized warrior up the ladder and hone your skills. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Override: Mech City Brawl features a dragon made of technology. While this isn't a literal TechRaptor, it's close enough to keep us awaiting the game's debut on December 4th.

What do you think of Override's new gameplay footage? What do you want out of a mechanized fighting game? Can any game top Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
