UK and US-based publisher Outright Games is teaming up with "children's creative expression products" company Crayola to create an as yet unnamed game as part of an ongoing partnership.

The first game is in development for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and is due for release "this fall", according to a press release given by both companies. It sounds like this deal will span more than one project, as the press release describes the partnership's intent as "to create new video games for children of all ages".

Details on the game are pretty thin on the ground right now, but Outright has prior experience with franchises like Ben 10How To Train Your Dragon and Adventure Time. With this in mind, it's fairly safe to assume the game will be aimed primarily at younger kids. There's a pretty solid chance the game will be shown off at this year's E3 presentation, as it's due to be released in fall this year.

Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games, says Outright is "thrilled" to partner with Crayola and make games with them. He describes Crayola's "drive to provide kids everywhere with relevant and imaginative virtual activities" as a key inspiration for Outright's activities. He goes on to call the upcoming project "a brand new way of experiencing creativity with Crayola".

This won't technically be Crayola's first foray into video games, as the company created Crayola Art Studio back in the 90s, a Mario Paint-style visual learning tool and video game hybrid for children. The press release makes it sound like this upcoming project will be a legit game, though, rather than an edutainment tool. In that regard, this will be Crayola's first time entering into the video game industry. Crayola's Vice President of Business Development and Global Licensing describes Crayola as being "all about inspiring creativity through colour and innovative play experiences", so the partnership with Outright is a chance to "extend that passion to new and exciting areas".

We don't know much at all about what form the Outright-Crayola partnership will take yet. Watch this space for more news in the coming weeks.
