Outlast 2 is among a bunch of awesome horror titles available at a discount in this week’s GOG Weekly Sale.

GOG Weekly Sales are exactly what it says on the tin – a week-long event where a number of DRM-free games are available on GOG at a discount. These sales typically feature a mix of games both old & new across a variety of genres. This week’s sale has a particular focus on horror games. Have a look at some of our favorites of the bunch!

Outlast 2 (check out our review) takes the stealth-based horror from the first game and throws in cults, portals, and nightmarish corn fields. The game puts players into the shoes of investigative journalist Blake Langermann as he is sent to document a dilapidated rural area in Supai, near the western edge of the Colorado Plateau. Things go predictably awry, with a murderous cult gunning for your head as part of a messed-up religious ceremony. Outlast 2 can be picked up for $13.19, a 60% discount.

Virginia tells a cerebral and trippy story involving a female FBI agent, as she investigates the disappearance of a child. The game is heavily inspired by the likes of Twin Peaks and X Files, with a non-linear narrative and supernatural leanings. The whole thing is presented without the use of any dialogue, instead opting to use music cues and animation to tell the tale. It's a relatively short game which definitely warrants multiple playthroughs to get to grips with. Virginia can be picked up for $3.29, a 75% discount. You can read our review here.

Inside is the spiritual successor to cult indie hit Limbo. It is similar in that it tasks players with navigating a small boy through a horrifying and brutal world, avoiding killers, monsters, and environmental hazards. Every single frame of the game is a technical marvel, presenting a world that is both beautiful and tragic. Nail-biting platforming and tense stealth sections are broken up by salient moments of environmental storytelling. Inside can be bought for $15.49, a 40% discount. More than worth it for a game we gave 9.5 out of 10 when it released in our review.

The Walking Dead: Season 1 is quite possibly the most well-known and well-received of Telltale's adventure game offerings. It stars Lee, a convict who breaks free while being escorted to another prison. It's out of the frying pan and into the fire though as the world is being taken over by flesh-eating zombies. The game centers around his relationship with Clementine, a young girl who has lost her family. It's definitely worth picking up this zombie adventure game for $8.09, a 75% discount.

Layers of Fear drops players into the mind of an artist as he loses his grip on reality, and descends into madness. It's a surreal, tense psychological horror filled with creative scares and psychedelic visuals. Numerous pieces of original art and music flesh out the story and environment, as players explore a constantly changing Victorian-era mansion. It'll only cost you $6.49 for the pleasure, with the game being offered at a 75% discount. While our review was less than keen on it, many others liked it.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is quite simply horror done right. The Amnesia series is now a great go-to for those looking for a scare, managing to make players feel truly feel vulnerable and dis-empowered. The game takes place in a perfectly creepy castle, with the excellent sound design going a long way to create an atmosphere filled with pure terror. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is just $3.89, an 85% discount.

The Swapper offers up its scares with a sci-fi twist. The game is a visual delight, portraying dark and other-worldly environments peppered with tension and intrigue. It's a puzzle game at heart, tasking players with wielding an experimental device able to clone the user and swap control between them. It's a small title with big ambitions, one which can be picked up for $3.79, an 80% discount.
