The adorable farming/town life/creature collecting/dancing/who knows what else game Ooblets is now going to be self-published. This game by the husband and wife team Glumberland was announced at E3 2017 and returned to the show once again in 2018. Their game was presented as one of many Double Fine titles at E3 2018, but it now seems that Glumberland is cutting out on their own.

Glumberland announced via Twitter that they were now going to be self-publishing Ooblets. A company called popagenda will be helping them with various other bits and pieces needed to get the game all sorted out. Ooblets did not make a showing at this year's E3, but the developer says that there will be "some more exciting stuff" to be announced shortly after the conclusion of one of the world's biggest gaming events.

If you've missed out on what this game is all about, check out this B-Roll footage from the game's official YouTube channel:

Essentially, this game is all about growing your own little adorable creatures through a farming system, raising them, and then dancing for some reason. Also, there's apparently going to be some sort of turn-based RPG battle system because hey, why not.

Not only can you grow and raise your own friends, you'll also be able to customize quite a few things in the game. A lot of stylish options will be available for characters of both genders and you'll also be able to change up the furniture in your house to suit your personal taste. Much like many other farming RPGs (which this is sort of like), you'll also have all sorts of machines and crops to unlock as you play through the game.

One notable omission from this announcement as to the reason why Glumberland separated from Double Fine Productions. It may have something to do with Double Fine recently being acquired by Xbox Game Studios, but we can't say for certain. Other Double Fine Presents titles are having no changes and will go forward as planned.

Ooblets originally was planned to launch before the end of 2018 but the developers couldn't quite make their release date. Let's hope that it comes out sooner rather than later. For now, you can add Ooblets to your wishlist on Steam. You can also support the developer via Patreon.
