one punch man game

After a couple of years as a successful manga and anime, an official One Punch Man game has finally been announced via a press release. Titled One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, it will be making its way to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at some point in the near future, giving us all our chance to play as some of our favorite heroes and villains.

On the off chance you're unfamiliar with One Punch Man, the premise is very straightforward. In a world full of heroes and monsters, Saitama is a caped, bald man whose training from hell has made him so strong that he defeats almost every monster in a single punch. Unfortunately, Saitama is looking for more of a challenge and is horribly depressed as how much power he's accumulated. A vivid cast of heroes and villains join him in his journey to find something to fight that won't explode into gore with a single punch.

It's a great fighting manga and anime, and now a One Punch Man game is finally on the way!

One Punch Man Game Characters

So far, five characters (and a prospective boss character) have been revealed for One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows.

"One Punch Man" "Caped Baldy" Saitama

B-Class, Rank 7

Some bald guy in a cape who punches the bad guys. I think he's cheating.

"Demon Cyborg" Genos

S-Class, Rank 14

A handsome cyborg who joined the Hero Association by following in the footsteps of his master, Genos is a cyborg with a proclivity for using fire to cause damage and enhance his speed. He's currently studying under some bald dude in a weird costume while he's on a quest to avenge his hometown that we destroyed by a mysterious cyborg.

"Blizzard of Hell" Fubuki

B-Class, Rank 1

The strongest hero in B-Class, Fubuki uses psychic powers to beat up her foes. She's not quite as strong as her sister "Tornado of Terror" Tatsumaki (S-Class, Rank 2), but she can certainly put up a solid fight (and look stylish while doing it).

Speed-o'-Sound Sonic

Unranked (He's kind of a bad guy.)

A ninja who has been a bodyguard, assassin, and prisoner, Speed-o'Sound Sonic is a man who was infuriated when some weird bald guy managed to defend against his attacks. He definitely holds a grudge since then and will basically attack things on a whim.

Mumen Rider

C-Class, Rank 1

The highest-ranked C-Class hero, Mumen Rider ("Licenseless Rider") is a guy on a bicycle. He charges after bad guys with his bike and crashes it into them. He gets his butt kicked a lot. Odds are, this dude is gonna be the joke character of the game, but we still love him anyway.

Boros

Unranked (He's a monster.)

Boros is seen at one point in the trailer; this guy serves as one of the major antagonists in the One Punch Man series and is notable for being one of the few creatures that could survive a single punch from Saitama. Odds are, he's going to be a boss character of some sort. He may potentially be playable as lots of fighting games let you unlock boss characters to play.

The one curiosity about the One Punch Man game is how exactly it's going to handle Saitama's super strength. He has literally never been hurt nor taken much in the way of damage (save to his costume); even Superman and Goku have been defeated in the past. It will be interesting to see how this game handles him being defeated.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will feature 3 vs. 3 battles in beautiful cel-shaded 3D. No price or release date has been announced, but we do know that this game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
