Murder-mystery action-adventure game Omensight launches on May 15th for PC and PS4, developer Spearhead Games has confirmed.

The news came via a press release given by Spearhead, who are also publishing the game on both platforms. The press release details a few gameplay and story mechanics, as well as pricing and release information for the game.

Omensight sees players take control of the Harbinger, described by the devs as "a powerful mystical warrior" who witnesses the end of the world. As the Harbinger, players must solve the murder of "the Godless Priestess," whose death brings about the apocalypse, and in so doing save the world. This is achieved via the titular "Omensight" mechanic, which sees players living through a Majora's Mask or The Sexy Brutale-style time loop, "weav[ing] a new narrative" as they relive the loop.

The game is a no-brainer for "fans of Majora's Mask's time-turning gameplay," according to Spearhead, as each time loop the player lives through "brings [them] closer to the truth and one step closer to preventing the end of the world." There's also hack-and-slash-style action combat somewhat reminiscent of Spearhead's previous title, Stories: The Path of Destinies. Rounding off the Omensight experience is a "stellar writing team," which includes legendary former Obsidian scribe Chris Avellone (Fallout 2, Planescape Torment).

Spearhead Games is an independent studio based in Montreal. Their previous games include isometric action RPG Stories: The Path of Destinies, "the world's first MOSA (Multiplayer Online Sports Arena) ACE - Arena: Cyber Evolution" and co-op action puzzle title Tiny Brains. Omensight will be the studio's fourth title, and the third game they have also published (Tiny Brains was published by Italian studio 505 Games).

Omensight will be available on PC via Steam and on PS4 via the PlayStation Store on May 15th 2018. Pre-orders for the PS4 version will be available today, while the Steam version can already be added to players' wishlists. The game will be priced at $19.99 on both platforms.
