The OlliOlli franchise may still be young, but that isn’t stopping the development team Roll7 from releasing OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition, a PlayStation 4 exclusive retail copy that includes both the original OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood. The first OlliOlli was released in 2014 and OlliOlli 2 debuted just last year, so you might be wondering why even re-release these two titles together. The answer to this completely hypothetical question that I have no way of knowing if you were even going to ask has multiple layers, so let’s dig into them.
Firstly, this would be the first time that you would be able to find either of these games as a physical retail copy. Until August 9th, when OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition hits store shelves in North America, the only way to buy either of these 2D side-scrollers is digitally. However, soon you’ll be able to pick up the collection at retail stores exclusively for the PlayStation 4 with plenty of bonus content . The distribution and publishing of OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition is being handled by U&I Entertainment and Bandland Games.
Now, let’s discuss the exclusive bonus content coming along with this special edition. The collection will include a “making of” featurette for both OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2. On top of that, special behind the scenes footage as well as interviews with some of the developers over at Roll7 will also be included. While these bonuses are digital, the Combo Edition will also include some physical goodies as well, including an exclusive studio booklet that will spotlight some of the studio’s inspirations behind the OlliOlli franchise, as well as some developer art and commentary. Lastly, the full soundtrack for OlliOlli 2 will also come along with this special edition. Check out everything that you’ll find in the box in the trailer below:
OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition will be coming to retailers on August 9th, and you can head over to Badland Indie’s official website to find links to all the different stores and retailers that you can buy/pre-order the game from. The collection is $29,99 and is exclusive to North America. Just want OlliOlli 2 as a physical release? Well, that’s been announced too and is expected to come sometime this September. You can check out all the details for that here.
OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood was one of my favorite games of last year, and the original OlliOlli is almost just as good. I can’t possibly write about this franchise without recommending at least the sequel. And don’t forget, OlliOlli 2 launched free for PlayStation Plus subscribers, so you might already have the game and not even know it. Anyways, OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition seems like a great buy. I’ll be getting it, and I recommend you give the franchise a try too.
