Square Enix Collective has announced the release date of Octahedron via a press release, a platformer developed by Demimonde with a focus on verticality that will be released to the world on March 20, 2018.

In Octahedron, you'll be climbing your way through several psychedelic levels that are paired with some great tunes. The level's geometry and enemies move along with the music, so make sure you get into the rhythm of things to make your way to the top of each challenging map. Have a gander at the game's Release Date Announcement trailer to see what's in store for the platforming aficionados out there.

There won't be any sort of tutorial for new players in the game; each of the fifty handcrafted levels is designed to help you discover the game's mechanics naturally. You'll run, dash, and hop upwards with a mix of using the world's geometry and popping out your own platforms as needed. Players will unlock additional tools as they head deeper into the game's challenges. Some of the platforms you can create pull double duty as weapons that can destroy enemies (usually those below you). As for the title, well, an octahedron is an eight-sided polygon and that particular imagery features prominently in the game (including serving as the head of your character and some enemies).

Octahedron features music from Chipzel, House and Trance producers Andre Sobota & Derek Howell, and Monomirror. It's set to release on March 20, 2018, for the PC via Steam, Xbox One via the Microsoft Store, and PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store. For now, you can add it to your wishlist on Steam. You can also head over to the game's official website to learn a bit more about what it's all about.

What do you think of Octahedron? Do you think it makes for a unique enough platformer to stand out from some of the other games recently released in the genre? Let us know in the comments below!
