When it comes to No Man's Sky, the multiplayer aspect of the game has never been that clear. Even though the game does have multiplayer according to its creators, though not in the traditional sense, Hello Games have still described the game as a single-player game. Even the Steam page for the game lists the game as a "single-player" game.

With this in mind it has been revealed that players on PS4 will not need to have PlayStation Plus in order to play the game. The info comes from GameInformer who reached out to Sony. On the subject of PlayStation Plus the representative had this to say;

“PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas,”

Considering how different the multiplayer experience appears to be in No Man's Sky, it isn't all too surprising that a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to play the game. It was clarified that you would need to be connected to the internet if you wanted to contribute your discoveries a sort of central database.

It has also come to light that the PC version of the game has been pushed back a few days. Now intended to be released on August 12 according to the About section on the No Man's Sky website. It states that the PS4 version is coming August 9 in North America and August 10 in Europe, whilst coming to the PC worldwide on August 12.

A lot of people expected to PC release to be August 9 due the fact that that's when steam had it listed for release. It is interesting to note that the Humble Store still has August 9 as the date of release and GOG doesn't even have one, it just says "soon".

No reason has been given, which is mainly the cause of all the confusion. Even with all the sites having different dates, we can only really go with what the official site is saying, which is August 12 for the PC version.
