Mario Kart 8

Nintendo have revealed that Mario Kart 8 has sold 2 million units so far. The game was released on May 30th, less than a month ago. The news came from Nintendo's annual share holders meeting.

In the first weekend of its release the game sold 1.2 millions units. Since its release it has boosted sales of the Wii U. In the UK sales had raised by 666%. With this good news for Nintendo the company has decided to re-elect Satoru Iwata as president.

Satoru-Iwata

It had been suggested that Satoru Iwata's job was at risk due to disappointing sales of the Wii U. Iwata stated he would not leave the company and apologized for the poor sales.

Mario Kart 8 still has a long way to go before it is as successful as Mario Kart Wii with that being the original Wii's most successful non-bundled title selling 35.5 million units to date.

This news is definitely good for Nintendo and the Wii U. Weather it's on the brink of a 3DS style turn around though we can only wait and see.
