Despite the fact that Nintendo stated that there won't be more news on the Nintendo Switch until 2017, news is still slowly trickling in about their latest hardware.

The latest tidbits come from Siliconera, whereupon two quotes were highlighted from an interview with Nintendo CEO Takashi Mochizuki and a Wall Street Journal reporter, with the first regarding the status of it's price and overall cost to the company.

To elaborate, Mochizuki stated that while the "company won’t make [a] loss by selling it... [it is] also listening to what consumers expect from us when setting price."

Mochizuki continued by also mentioning that the "concurrent FY financial guidance assumes 2 million units of Switch to be shipped this fiscal year ending in March.”

With the Nintendo Switch releasing in March 2017, Nintendo is expecting fairly brisk sales for the console, which can only be expected for the company. This may be helped by Mochizuki's assurance that after the 'full' unveiling of the Nintendo Switch, potential consumers would understand the differences between the Nintendo 3DS and the Switch, which after the disaster that was the Nintendo Wii U could only be seen as helpful for consumers.

Quick Take:

This is good news, but also relatively unsurprising news. Nintendo has always sold consoles for a relative cheap price, and it would be more shocking if they had suddenly gone for a more expensive product then from what they have previously offered. Everything seems to be smooth sailing for this console right now, but given that this is Nintendo I am waiting for the shoe to drop. Hopefully it doesn't, but the disastrous Wii U lifecycle showed how out of touch Nintendo has gotten with their consumers. However, the Nintendo Switch does look very promising, so let's wait and see.
