It's another month, which means that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers are getting another set of NES games to play as the Nintendo Switch Online March games. This time around, you'll be fighting eggplants and exploring dangerous tropical environments.
Kid Icarus is Pit's debut title. Many people probably know him more for being a fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series, but he's an old Nintendo protagonist. Kid Icarus is a platformer where you use your bow to take out strange enemies and traverse perilous ruins.
Meanwhile, StarTropics is an adventure game where you play as Mike Jones. You have to save your uncle, an archaeologist ironically named Dr. Jones. This top-down title has you solve puzzles and take out dangerous foes with weapons such as the Island Yo-Yo and Baseball Bat. This game released only in North America and Europe, so Japanese players won't be getting this in their Nintendo Switch Online games this month.

Instead, Japan gets two other games: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and Yie Ar Kung-Fu. They do still get Kid Icarus.
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is the first title in the critically acclaimed turn-based tactics series. You play as Prince Marth, and must command your troops to victory in a land embroiled in war. Along the way you will recruit unique units to aid you in battle. It features perma-death like all other Fire Emblem games, but the series' iconic weapon triangle is gone. This system was introduced in the series' fourth entry.

Yie Ar Kung-Fu is an old fighting game that pits you up against other unique fighters. There are different combos you can do to come out on top. There are about a dozen total fighters but you only play as Oolong. In between matches, there's also bonus modes to rack up points.
If you want to try out either of the Japanese games, you can do so by setting your region to Japan and downloading the Famicom Nintendo Switch Online section.
The press release outlining these upcoming titles also mentioned a Tetris 99 tournament. Called the Maximus Cup, the tournament takes place on March 8th at 5 a.m. and ends on March 10th at 11:59 p.m Pacific times. The 999 players who win the most games will earn 999 My Nintendo Nintendo Gold Points as a reward.
Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online, look out for these upcoming titles on March 13th.
