During the Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo revealed new levels and a new mode for Luigi's Mansion 3.

Like the prior Luigi's Mansion, levels have a certain theme. In Luigi's Mansion 3, various floors of a towering hotel contain many different new areas. The Tomb Suites is a spooky, Egyptian-looking area on the hotel. For another area of the game, there's a disco-themed dance floor, even. Meanwhile, The Spectral Catch is a pirate-themed restaurant found on another floor of the hotel in Luigi's Mansion 3. We saw ghostly pirates, sharks, and even an entire pirate ship.

Nintendo also showed off a new multiplayer mode called Scream Park. Two to 8 players can play on one Nintendo Switch system and go head-to-head as Team Luigi and Team Gooigi. Both teams attempt to defeat as many ghosts as possible in arena-like areas. Two other winning criteria include either breaking the most things in a stage or acquiring the most coins.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is an adventure title where players take the role of Luigi within a haunted hotel. Players suck up ghosts and traverse strange, themed environments within this hotel. Several new gameplay features make Luigi's Mansion 3 stand apart from previous entries. Now, players can use a plunger attachment and use it to pull objects off of ghosts or interact with the environment. During combat, Luigi can viciously slam ghosts around for area-of-effect damage. Another cool and prominent feature is Gooigi. Players can either simultaneously control Gooigi to traverse hazardous environments for regular Luigi, or use it to solve environmental puzzles. Gooigi also serves as a co-op partner.

Stay tuned for more information on Luigi's Mansion 3. It launches this Halloween on October 31st, 2019. For a hands-on look with Luigi's Mansion 3 from E3, take a look at our preview article as well as footage from the show floor.

Quick Take

I played Luigi's Mansion 3 at E3 and, while I enjoyed it, these other levels seem much more interesting. I think the hotel setting allows for them to truly add something unique and different for every floor. Particularly, the pirate restaurant has me intrigued and excited for more.
