Fire Emblem fans don't have to wait much longer for Three Houses. Despite a delay, which was rumored to be in September, it is launching July 26, 2019.
The Direct also showed off plenty of new gameplay and story details. Players take control of their own avatar, a mercenary led by your father. It has similarities to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance's plot with Ike being a mercenary in his father's company.

Players will become a teacher of the Officer's Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery, where you will raise the next generation of warriors to fight against threats to the continent of Fodlan. There are three kingdoms in Fodlan, and students from each are separated in the academy.
Representing the Adrestian Empire are the Black Eagles, led by Edelgard. The Blue Lions of Faerghus are led by Prince Dimitri, and Claude of the Leicester Alliance represents the Golden Deer house of the monastery.
Students are expected to travel to various lands with real soldiers to gain battle experience. That means killing bandits and ending rebellions, outlined in the video above. In true Fire Emblem fashion, students can be killed permanently.
As the teacher of these students, you can train and tutor them in magic and weapons, or special skills like horsemanship and flying. Other skills include the series first fighting skill and reason. In one instance, a student is shown using fist weapons. There appears to be a lot of customization and it is possible that weapon and movement types are not pre-set this time around. The trailer also showed a way to pick specific classes for units.
Students interact with each other on campus and gain bonds which will help them become more effective on the battlefield. For units in prior Fire Emblem titles, bonds were important in excelling on the battlefield.
There will be a special edition called the Seasons of Warefare Edition. You can see Nintendo's tweet and check out what it has to offer below. Right now, it seems to be unavailable for pre-order, but these things usually go out of stock fast.
