During the Japan Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo announced that the sequel to Gust’s original action role-playing game Nights of Azure, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon will be released for the Nintendo Switch. Originally slated for release in December of 2016 as a PlayStation 4 / PlayStation Vita exclusive, the title was pushed back to February and then again to an undisclosed date in 2017. At the event, Koei Tecmo debuted a new trailer showing off in-game scenes and character art. Watch the video in Japanese below.

Nights of Azure 2 is set in the same universe as Nights of Azure, a world where demons plague the night and a special order of knights and priests are tasked with keeping the order of things. Featuring a new story and cast of characters the sequel will have an emotional story about sacrifice, friendship, and love. The three female protagonists include a knight of the Curia, a priestess and a Holy Knight of an opposing order.

Details revealed about the story and gameplay so far show many similarities between the original game and its sequel. There are however going to be some changes to the new title. One of the biggest changes will be the addition of a “Lily” partner system which will allow characters to team up for battles and gain new abilities and scenarios as their relationship grows.
