Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has just announced via his blog that the rumors of the new Xbox One console with expanded storage will be releasing later this month. On top of the space the Xbox One will also have a matte finish and this bundle will also come with the new Xbox One controller and in some regions a copy of Halo: Master Chief Collection pre-installed.

The 1TB Xbox One console will be shipping to retailers on the 16th of June and will only cost $400. That means that the current price drop on the 500G model of the Xbox One will be keeping its current price of $350 in the US and select other regions.

The new Xbox One controller comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack in-built to the bottom, where you would normally plug in an adapter. All of the game and voice volume controls will be accessible via the settings menu on the controller. On top of that the bumpers have also been given an improvement and the controller will be able to receive wireless updates. While being bundled this controller will also be purchasable as a stand along product in black or in a new Special Forces design.

New Xbox One Controller

Are all the new features worth picking up a new controller?

Lastly it was also announced that this fall a wireless adapter for Windows is being released for $25 stand alone or $75 with a new controller. This will mean you will be able to use this controller without wires on any Windows 10 PC, Tablet or Laptop.

What do you think of all of the new additions to the controller? Will the increased price help the public’s view of the Xbox One? Are you looking forward to being able to use the Xbox One controller on PC wireless?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.

The headphone jack addition is a long time coming. I’m okay with this.

The one thing I wish they made for these controllers is a damn chat pad. I loved the chat pad on the 360, and I get the impression I’m the only one…

So, now we can hold 14+ games on this new 1TB HDD instead of 7 or 8, but at a higher price? AWESOME!

Needs to be at least 2TB or more

My PC laughs its ass off at this bullshit all the way to the bank to pay for itself several times over. Just think of all the new and expensive proprietary add-ons and “upgrades” I am not paying for, and all the other upgrades I buy for half price or less, assuming I even need to upgrade at all (which I won’t for several years at the very least).

Fuck the New 3DS, fuck the new edition of the Xbone, fuck anything that involves re-buying an entire machine to get one or two improvements.

As for a wireless Xbox pad on PC — joke’s on you, Microsoft, because that was already possible. Even then, it’s not exactly desirable, because any PC enthusiast will tell you that not having to deal with batteries is fucking awesome. I haven’t charged batteries for anything in ages. I don’t intend to start doing it again.

You can build a gaming PC that beats the Xbone and the PS4 for less than either console costs off-the-shelf. I suggest checking out /r/pcmasterrace’s wiki on the subject.
