Xbox Backwards Compatible Jan 2016

More backwards compatible titles have been revealed via Major Nelson's blog and are now available on your Xbox One. Xbox is adding more and more titles to the catalog of Xbox 360 games that you are able to play on Xbox One. If you own a physical version of any of the backwards compatible games then you just need to put your disc in the drive and your Xbox will download a digital version of the game, and if you own it digitally then you just need to head to your "Ready to install" section and choose it. This months selection is all digital though so you won't be needing any discs.

The full list of Backwards Compatible titles are as follows:

  • Aegis Wing
  • Age of Booty
  • Counter-Strike: GO
  • Jeremy McGrath's Offroad
  • Sam & Max Save the World
  • Skullgirls
  • Small Arms
  • Soulcalibur
  • Space Giraffe
  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

As a bit of icing on the top of the cake Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners in some regions can also get The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free between now and February 5th. While Witcher 2 was available as a part of Games with Gold last January it is now available for every Xbox user so get it while it's free!

There is still no Xbox 360 store available on the Xbox One so if any of these games take your fancy and you wish to purchase them then you need to either do it via your Xbox 360 or at Xbox.com.

It has also been stated that instead of having a monthly release for the backwards compatible titles where we get them all revealed in a group they will be released as they're available. This might mean that you need to keep an eye on Major Nelson's Twitter or to your "ready to download" section for the future although it means you may also get them quicker as they are ready instead of having to wait for a monthly update.

What do you think of the latest additions to the list of Backwards Compatible titles? Are you happy to see some of those games in your Xbox One library? What game are you hoping to next see appear as a backwards compatible title? What do you think of the change to release Backwards Compatible titles as they are down? Share your thoughts!
