In a press release, Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios has announced that their free-to-play MMO Neverwinter Online will be having a closed beta on the Xbox One between the 5th and 8th of February this year. Players can sign up here if they wish to participate in the Neverwinter Xbox One closed beta.
The Neverwinter MMO is already out on PC, and will release on Xbox One with the same content, except for reworked control scheme, UI and other changes to cater to the console audience.
From the press release:
An MMORPG launching on Xbox One, Neverwinter brings a fully-fledged role-playing experience to players with the inclusion of previously launched PC content and a living social world allowing players to experience Dungeons & Dragons adventures with their friends. Neverwinter on Xbox One will utilize console features including friends list integration and optimized controls to easily transition the MMORPG experience from PC to console.
Neverwinter is a free-to-play action MMORPG that features fast-paced combat and epic dungeons. Players explore the vast city of Neverwinter and its surrounding countryside, learning the vivid history of the iconic city in the Forgotten Realms and battling its many enemies. Neverwinter is currently available on PC and will be launching for Xbox One, available free-to-play with Gold* in early 2015.
To play this free-to-play MMO on the Xbox One, you’ll need an active Xbox Live subscription, and Perfect World is expecting Neverwinter to fully release on Xbox One later this year. You can, however, download the game for PC right now if you follow this link.
You might have heard of Perfect Worlds Entertainment before; the best know games they have published was Runic Games’ Torchlight and recently debunked Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Retribution.
There are no news on the PlayStation 4 version, though it is still expected to release on that platform as well as the Xbox One. Neverwinter Online released on PC in June 2013, and has been available to Chinese Xbox One owners since the release of the Xbox One in China in September last year.
Will you be signing up for the Neverwinter Xbox One Beta? Have you played the game on PC? What is your opinion on MMOs on consoles?
