Point Blank games, an indie studio based in Berlin, revealed their first project, Shock Tactics. "Shock Tactics is a single player turn-based sci-fi strategy game with tactical combat, exploration, squad management and base building. It is inspired by the space western style of Firefly and games like Jagged Alliance and X-COM." The world of the game is procedurally generated each time you start which suggests the game is aiming for the same level of replayability as XCOM.

The gameplay of Shock Tactics consists of two main sections. Exploring and base building and turn-based tactical combat. You'll start the game off by building a base and gathering resources to expand and improve it. You can develop new weapons and technology at your home base and then send your men into the field to use the weapons, armor and abilities you've created for them. The trailer for the game showcases a wide variety of abilities and Point Blank says you will be able to, according to the press release "order drone strikes or demand emergency reinforcements from an orbital dropship, use explosives, cloaking devices, or even short-range teleportation."  Between bouts of combat you can explore the hostile planet and gather alien artifacts, improve your base and tech and power up your soldiers abilities. Your ultimate goal in the game is to expand your base to take over the entire alien planet.

Shock Tactics sees you playing as the commander of a human strike force that are the first to set foot on an alien homeworld. However you aren't the only people interested in the planet. A mega corporation has it's sights set on the planet and has sent an expeditionary force of mercenaries there that you will clash with.
