Necrobarista 3D Visual Novel Arrives On PC This August And Later On Consoles

If you're bored with regular 2D visual novels, here's something special you might be interested in. Necrobarista is a cinematic 3D visual novel with cel-shaded graphics, developed by Route 59 Games. The developer has announced the PC release on August 8, with the console versions for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch coming later in 2020.

Necrobarista is set in a fantastical version Melbourne, Australia, where you'll stop by The Terminal, a magical café frequented by living and dead customers. A necromancer employed by The Terminal allows the dead to return to the world of the living for one final day before finally giving up the ghost for good.

The 3D cinematics gives Necrobarista a distinguished cinematic aesthetic and endows the narrative's branching story arcs with a lot of depth and nuance. It also gives the players the opportunity to explore the coffee shop, investigating its environments, mingling with patrons, helping them resolve their unfinished business with the living. The supernatural story unfolds from several characters' perspective, with a dynamic camera moving and panning between a variety of angles and vantage points. This gives Necrobarista a unique cinematic presentation that most visual novels lack. It is inspired by both film and anime but aims to empower players to move and interact in free-roaming first-person scenes, not unlike point-and-click adventures. Kevin Chen, the Lead Designer at Route 59 Games, talked about the release with passion.

Necrobarista is the distillation of our deep passion for anime, video games, and storytellin. We set out to pay homage to our influences while also creating something completely new and inventive. While it’s taken a while to perfect the recipe, we look forward to sharing it when Necrobarista launches on PC this August.
The game will be available first on Steam for $14.99, in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. If you want to learn more, visit the game's official website or follow Route 59 Games on Twitter and Facebook.
