It's not often games based on TV shows get made anymore, and it's even rarer that they seem remotely interesting. Announced just in time for the highly anticipated 4th season of the hit Netflix original, Narcos: Rise of the Cartels is a turn-based action strategy game similar to X-Com and Fire Emblem and is set to release on PC and consoles sometime in 2019 .
In the game you will play as either a DEA agent or an up and coming boss from the notorious Medellin Cartel famously run by Pablo Escobar as you will follow the events of the show's first season. No word on if you can directly play as any of the characters from the show but according to developer Kuju, the team has been working hard to deliver an authentic experience for fans of the show. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels will also stay true to its source material by featuring characters, locations, music and much more from the hit Netflix show.

While there is currently a popular mobile title tied to the show, the prospect of a turn-based strategy game interweaved with the plot of one of the more interesting true crime stories of all time seems promising. So if you’ve ever felt the urge to sell a copious amount of cocaine and build a crime, or become one of the fearless heavily mustached South American DEA agents From the show, then this might be the game for you. No word on an official release date as of yet but expect the game to come out sometime in Q3 of 2019.
