Mass Effect Andromeda Ship N7 Day

BioWares N7 Day, celebrating their hit video game franchise Mass Effect, has come and gone once again.

This year, BioWare opted to do something for charity. With Extra Life taking place on November 7th, employees at BioWare opted to stream a live lets play of the DLC Citadel from Mass Effect 3, giving out prizes and raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. All told, BioWare was able to raise over $10,000, and pledged to match the same amount as well. You can watch a recap of the livestream on twitch.

In the end Extra Life was able to raise over $6 million yesterday across all charities, including over $20,000 from BioWare.

BioWare also didn't leave fans hanging. While no significant details regarding their upcoming sci-fi RPG, Mass Effect: Andromeda, were released, they did give fans a cool little video teaser. The video showcased archival footage of mankind exploring space, voiced over by Jennifer Hale as Commander Shepard. The final shot showed off a new spaceship, flying away from our galaxy to Andromeda, with Commander Shepard "signing-off" one last time.

Speculation abound has been rampant over the trailer on the BioWare forums. Some believe it to be a confirmation that Commander Shepard will be featured, possibly as a voice-over only, in the next game. Others claim the trailer confirms the ARK theory, a fan theory believing that the ship was constructed and sent to the Andromeda galaxy as a last-ditch effort to preserve the Milky Way races from the Reapers during the events of Mass Effect 3

BioWare has been very tight-lipped over what the time-period of Andromeda is. Outside of the leaked survey that claimed the game would take place "far removed by time and space from Commander Shepard’s heroic acts and the final events of the Mass Effect trilogy," there have been no updates or confirmations as to when or how the Milky Way races would arrive at the Andromeda galaxy.

Two things have been confirmed, however. First, BioWare studio director Yanick Roy clarified that the trailer showcased Shepard as a send-off for the next game. The second confirmation is that the N7 trailer did contain hidden clues, according to Producer Michael Gamble.

Eagle-eyed fans found two images in the trailer: the first were a set of dog tags in the far-left corner of the spaceship, and the second, a photo of a person in the far-right corner. The dog tags apparently say the name "Ryder" on them, possibly hinting at the surname of the next game's protagonist. The photo on the far-right shows someone sitting in the grass, possibly a memento from Earth for the player character.

BioWare has also showcased new artwork for Andromeda, and has been posting them on twitter periodically during N7 Day.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is scheduled for a holiday 2016 release.
