Muddledash, a "fun-filled couch co-op party game", will be released for Nintendo Switch and PC this July, according to a press release given by developer slampunks and publisher PQube.

The game sees players take control of "one of up to four octopuses" who must battle for the honor of taking a present to the finish line. Players can expect "bite-sized action and environmental obstacles", which will make for a "great hectic party experience".

Publisher PQube also uploaded a trailer to YouTube to commemorate the announcement of the release date. You can check out the trailer here:

The trailer shows off the gameplay of Muddledash, as well as some footage of various gamers playing the game at MCM Comic Con. The game boasts a cutesy visual style and high-octane bubblegum music; there's a moment in the trailer in which a young girl describes Muddledash as "hectic...but quite a lot of fun". Another guy who played the game describes it as a "fun friendship-breaker".

Gameplay-wise, Muddledash resembles a cross between LocoRoco and the Tricky Treasure segments from Rayman Origins. Players must chase a present as it bounces through the stage, racing each other to become the one to carry it across the finish line. Muddledash supports local 4-player co-op, but there isn't any online play, so you'll have to assemble your friends in the same room for this one. Players can unlock and wear a variety of different hats, which don't affect gameplay but allow players to "express [themselves]". The game also boasts levels which "generate dynamically each time round", so players will "never play the same race twice".

Muddledash will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch and Steam July 10th. Players will be able to pre-order the game from June 12th, which will net them a 10% discount on the usual retail price of $5.99.
