It won't be possible to play the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without the disc for the slightly less anticipated Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare being present in your console. This news comes from Activision after a string of rumors in the last week or so.

This confirmation was given to players via an update on the remaster's FAQ page on the official Activision website, which details which edition of the game players must get in order to gain access to the remaster of the popular entry in the franchise.

Xbox One players will get the remaster on the same disc as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare but will require an additional download before they can jump in. PlayStation 4 players will be able to download the remaster from the PlayStation Store, provided that they bought either the Legacy Edition or the Legacy Pro edition of the new Call of Duty game.

PC players will be provided with a Steam key when they purchase the Legacy Edition, which will get them both Infinite Warfare as well as Modern Warfare Remastered. In short: the remaster won't be included in the standard retail edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. If you want to play the remaster you'll have to buy the Legacy, Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions to play.

The way Activision has set this up means that players won't be able to play the remaster without the disc, so players who were planning on buying Infinite Warfare just so they could sell Infinite Warfare on the gray market and keep Modern Warfare Remastered will, unfortunately, be out of luck.

Oh, and to top all of this off, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will require an active internet connection to play, even when you just want to play the game's single-player campaign.

What do you think of Activision's methods? Does it affect your purchasing decisions regarding the new Call of Duty? Let us know in the comment section below!

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
