Mirror's Edge: Catalyst - Faith

If you, like me, have been patiently awaiting the return of Faith's adventures in the futuristic City of Glass, you will have to exercise a little more patience still.

The news that the original May 24 release date has been pushed back comes from DICE Design Director (gotta love a title with that much alliteration!) Erik Odeldahl in a blog post on the official Mirror's Edge Catalyst blog

To support the Social Play features, we are using a brand new online technology. We also want to make sure we have the opportunity and time to address player feedback from the Closed Beta. That is why we will give ourselves a bit more time to perfect the game, with a new release date for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst of June 7th (NA) and June 9th (EU). We’re confident that these extra two weeks will make sure the game is as amazing as possible for you the players.

In a time where most betas are increasingly more used as demos that forego testing in lieu of pure marketing, it's refreshing to see that DICE is more than willing to postpone the release of the anticipated game to make sure the launch version is the best version of the game it can be.

If you would like to try to get into the closed beta starting this weekend, you can check this article here to find out what you need to do to have a chance of getting in. Before you do that, though, make sure your PC is up to snuff by checking out the rather beefy system requirements here

Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows when it releases.

Quick Take

It's never fun to see a game get pushed back this close to release, but I would much rather they take their time to make the return of the franchise as good as it can be than them pushing it out too soon and having to patch it vigorously post-release. I'm fine with this.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
