Like Sniper Elite II and a few others, Mirage: Arcane Warfare is about to become free for a single day where those who grab it will own it permanently.

Starting at 10 AM PST, which was a few minutes ago, Torn Banner Studios’ latest title will be free to permanently own over the course of a twenty-four period.

Alex Hayter, the Senior Brand Manager at Torn Banner Studios, offered this reason for the promotion:

Mirage launch sales were poor. That sucked, and we know it. Our company’s doing fine, and we’ll be able to continue to make awesome games in the future.

More than anything, we’re disappointed for the players who stuck by us and did buy Mirage – but who have struggled to find people to play against. We just want people to play the game we spent years making.

We have faith that Mirage can find a larger audience still, so we’re being aggressive about getting it into people’s hands.

Hayter also points out that since Mirage’s launch, Torn Banner Studios have added new maps, character abilities, and new features like bots and more class customization options, with more patches to improve performance and the general player experience.

For those that are interested in this deal, be sure to remember that after twenty-four hours Mirage will go back to being a priced game, albeit with a permanent price drop, as the standard edition will drop to $9.99 with the special edition remaining a $9.99 upgrade.

Quick Take

I’ve always been somewhat interested in this game, but never enough to put money behind my interest. Judging by the measures that Torn Banner Studios is going through to try and make this game popular, it looks like my experience has been replicated across the board, which is unfortunate. However, today I will definitely download this game and try it out – I’ve got nothing to lose for $0.

What do you think of this move? Have you already purchased Mirage: Arcane Warfare? Will you grab Mirage: Arcane Warfare free today? Let us know in the comments!
