Minecraft Power Rangers

Popular block-building game Minecraft has announced today that they are releasing a set of character skins themed around the original Power Rangers television series for the console, Pocket (mobile), and Windows 10 versions of the game.

The skins include the costumed versions of the Power Rangers from the original English version of the series which was adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai series Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. Other friendly characters such as the Megazord and Alpha 5 make an appearance as well. The skin pack doesn't just include the good guys, however - a host of villains from the series' original run are in the free skin pack as well. Among them are Rita Repulsa, Goldar, Lord Zedd, the bumbling bullies Bulk & Skull, and even the lowly Putties.

The release of these skins is happening (perhaps not coincidentally) in the midst of the first week of the new Power Rangers movie, a re-imagining of the classic children's action series. The skins were included as part of the changelog to a recent update for the Pocket and Windows 10 versions of the game. Aside from the new skins, the update added new commands, game rules, and command blocks as well as also including the usual array of tweaks and bug fixes.

As for regular ol' PC players of the game, while they won't necessarily have access to the same skins right off of the bat there are plenty of equivalents available over at The Skindex, a community site where users can share their custom skins for PC players of the game. Minecraft has sold over 122 million copies of the game since its launch as of February 2017.

What do you think of the Power Rangers skins being released as free DLC for Minecraft? Which is your preferred platform to play the game on? How do you think the upcoming Power Rangers movie is going to turn out? Let us know in the comments below!
