Today, Microsoft will show off their Xbox Game Pass and Xbox App (which is currently in beta) for PC later today. Currently, the Xbox Game Pass PC is live, and the Xbox App is currently unavailable for some, but one would think that the App will be accessible later today and will effectively be replacing the Windows 10 Store as far as gaming goes.

The Xbox Game Pass for PC is $1 for the first month and $4.99 for every month thereafter. Currently, there are over 100 games that are available, with more to come frequently.

Here is the current list of available games on the Xbox Game Pass PC:

The Xbox App is a replacement for the Microsoft Store for gaming on Windows 10. It has the Xbox Game Pass PC, a Social tab, and a Store.

The Xbox App is currently available on the Microsoft Store, and while some have reported it as not downloadable, I have been able to download it and use it. It appears to be inconsistent right now and is probably rolling out throughout the day ahead of its reveal later this afternoon.

Here are the screenshots:

Good news for anyone who hated the fact they couldn't really install games anywhere else: it's easily doable on the Xbox app.

Games are somewhat easy to find, but there are no filters, making the browsing experience very bare-bones.

xbox game app social
I haven't owned an Xbox in a very long time, hence the lack of friends using Microsoft's Xbox Social features. I expect that to change shortly.

Overall, this is a very sleek and well-designed app that needs a few more features and performance improvements. It's light-years better than the Microsoft Store and is highly recommended for anyone looking to use Microsoft's Game Pass.

It looks to be an exciting day for Microsoft and Xbox fans. More to come at 4PM EST.

Quick Take

Of these games, I can personally recommend Gears of War 1 and 4, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Rise of Nations: Extended Edition, Slay the Spire, Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition, The Banner Saga 1-3, Valkyria Chronicles, and Wargroove. These are the games that I have played and enjoyed, not to mention titles such as Metro: Exodus, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 1 and 2, and Imperator: Rome. Overall, this subscription service looks to have fantastic value, and I honestly don't see any reason why anyone shouldn't at least subscribe to the first month for $1 to see how it goes. Hopefully, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will be added soon.
