Tokyo Game Show

At Microsoft's press event at its Japanese headquarters in Shinagawa, Tokyo, they have confirmed that they will not be attending the Tokyo Game Show this year. Microsoft also did not attend last year, but will be hosting their own "Xbox Dai Kansha-sai" or "Xbox Big Thanksgiving" in October.

The Tokyo Game Show is a video game expo held annually in September in Japan. The event is very similar to Gamescom in nature where developers can showcase their various hardware and upcoming video games to the public.

An event of the same name was held last year and exhibited quite a number of games for the platform. The likes of Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rainbow Six: Siege were there, as well as a chance to meet developers like Hideki Kamiya from PlatinumGame, the company that worked on games like the two Bayonetta games as well as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

No information has been released about the venue, ticket price, or even the date, apart from the month, as of yet. One thing that was announced, however, was that Microsoft will be focusing heavily on Windows 10, especially the gaming side of things. This year, Microsoft has been very big on promoting its new operating system. From bringing exclusive free games to it such as Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, to advertising other PC games, such as Ori and the Blind Forest, as also being for Windows 10, they have done it all. They are also big on their new "Play Anywhere" feature which allows for "Play Anywhere enabled" games to be played on both Xbox One as well as Windows 10.

Perhaps this event will get people to finally switch over to Windows 10. After all, they do have a planned 1 billion devices goal in 2-3 years. In any case, if you like Xbox and Microsoft, and also happen to be in the Tokyo area, Xbox's big Thanksgiving would perhaps be an event to put on your to-do list. After all, who doesn't like seeing exclusive games ahead of the general public?
