In a surprising move on Microsoft's part, reported on the Xbox website Major Nelson, the software and hardware giant has recently announced that they will be making the opening ceremony of Blizzard's yearly convention available for streaming on the Xbox One Live Events Interactive app. Blizzcon has before now only been available to stream if you bought a virtual ticket. It is as of yet unknown if viewers on Xbox One will need a virtual ticket to stream the opening ceremony. Why Microsoft and Blizzard have decided to join forces to bring the convention to Xbox One players for the ninth edition of the convention is as of yet unclear, but recent rumors (and an interview in May where the developer stated that they're looking into bringing more Blizzard games to the current gen consoles) that the World of Warcraft developer is thinking about bringing Overwatch to consoles are seemingly becoming more likely. More details on this coming soon.

The yearly convention surrounding all of Blizzard's IP will be held in the Anaheim Convention Center in California, and will be a three-day celebration of all things Blizzard. Just like the editions before, the convention will host a slew of championship finals for Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft, as well as panels on the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion Legion.

Quick Take

Personally, I think it's very cool. Blizzard bringing their sort-of-but-not-quite MOBA to consoles may turn out to be a smart move on their part. The console version of Diablo 3 has been a great success, so it would make sense for them to bring more of their IPs to the console market. And who knows, maybe this PS4 owner will be able to gracefully dance around his carpal tunnel if Blizzard decides to bring the much-anticipated Overwatch to PS4 as well. I'm certainly hoping the rumors are true.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
