minecraft ar announced

A mysterious new teaser trailer has been released on the Microsoft official YouTube account which seems to be hinting at a new Minecraft AR game which will be released on mobile devices. The trailer shows someone sitting at a bench playing on his phone, before leaving his phone behind on the bench. A person walks up and picks up the phone which seems to show mobs from Minecraft walking around the real world, including pigs and villagers, before the phone displays the message 'May 17th tune in Minecraft.net' and is taken back by the original owner.

Other than the snatches of information present in the video there is nothing else known about the game, and it is likely to remain that way until May 17th when everything will presumably be revealed over at minecraft.net. The comment section of the video already has plenty of speculation about what the game is going to be like, as well as certain people questioning which platforms the game will be available on and people just celebrating the fact that something was being announced.

Although Microsoft owns and operates Minecraft and has done since they purchased Mojang back in 2014, they have not been shy about sharing one of their premiere applications with other platforms. Minecraft is available on iOS as well as on Android and it is likely that whatever form this new game takes it will almost certainly enjoy good cross-platform support from Microsoft. For now, all we can do is count down the days until the inevitable announcement and make sure to tune into TechRaptor then when we'll have all the details.
