Microsoft confirms they didn't receive any hacking attack

Last week, we reported on the hacking group DerpTrolling posting a pastebin with several thousands login information from PSN, Windows Live and 2K accounts. Few days later, Sony announced they found no evidence of breakthrough in their systems and no evidence of personal information being compromised. Today, the Xbox One team confirmed to Gamespot that none of the accounts of their users has been compromised. 

Microsoft's statement reads as following:

We immediately investigated reports regarding some Microsoft Accounts including Windows Live and Hotmail and can confirm that no Microsoft site or service was compromised," the company told GameSpot.

Microsoft takes account security and privacy seriously. Should we identify any specific account at risk for any reason, we will take action to protect the account. To help keep your information safe, we encourage you to set strong passwords, change passwords regularly and avoid using the same password for multiple accounts. This latest comment, seems to confirm that the whole story is a hoax from the alleged hacking group. If PSN and Windows Live didn't receive any attacks, chances are that 2K games, that until now didn't release any official statement, wasn't attacked as well.

So it looks like the accounts are still safe. Still, doesn't hurt to change the password from time to time.
