One of my biggest surprises in 2016 was rhythm RPG The Metronomicon. I could gush for a long time about all the things that I loved about the game, but I did a review doing exactly that so you can just read that here. The game launched as a PC exclusive, but now it’s being brought to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a new name and some new content.

Now under the title The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor, the game will be dancing its way to consoles this year. Those who have been waiting will get some new content for the game. The biggest addition comes in the form of local multiplayer, allowing two players to take control of the party and rock their way to victory in the game’s 50 song soundtrack. The trailer for the console version does note that all game modes will be playable in local multiplayer. Additionally, a new character is being added to the game. While the details on this new character are sparse, the silhouette at the end of the trailer should be familiar to fans of the original release. The Steam announcement post about the new release also mentions a “brand new (really meaty, still secret) play mode.”

Speaking of Steam, if you already own The Metronomicon then don’t worry. All the new content will be added to the PC version for free when the console version releases. You won’t be missing out on the local multiplayer, the new character, or the new game mode. The new release also promises to rework and add challenges and add new ability types. There’s also apparently more features not even announced yet, so keep an eye for new announcements over the next few months.

The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2017. It’s currently available on PC for $19.99
