Konami recently revealed Metal Gear Survive’s Base Camp, which serves as a command center for engaging in both single-player and co-op missions.

On the official Metal Gear Twitter, Konami announced that players can “build & develop” their own Base Camp. The screenshot attached shows a base devoid of useful, functional equipment, implying players start with nothing upon arrival at Metal Gear Survive’s alternate reality.

Apart from serving as a home base, the Base Camp servers as a venue for growing crops, rearing animals, and developing weapons and gear. Metal Gear Survive is touted as a survival game where players must scavenge for supplies while exploring the zombie-like infested alternate reality. Previously shown in Metal Gear Survive’s Tokyo Game Show presentation, Konami emphasized that scavenging for supplies is important. Getting injured may drastically slower a player’s movement speed, thus making it a necessity always have medical supplies on hand. Players can also use a wormhole to transport useful materials such supplies, sheep, and the crystalline zombies.

To improve one’s equipment, embarking on multiple missions seems to be a necessity due to the game’s RPG-like aspects. Shown in a screenshot are some of Metal Gear Survive‘s equipment with stats for defense, durability, and weight. Konami also teased an abundance of weapons before such as katanas, bows, and various firearms.

While Metal Gear Survive has a “dense” single-player campaign and co-op multiplayer missions, character progression is linked between the two modes via the Base Camp, negating the need for grinding items and equipment for two profiles.

The Hideo Kojima-less Metal Gear Survive launches in Early 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

What do you think of Metal Gear Survive’s base building feature? Do you think Konami can providing an engaging single-player and multiplayer experience? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
