Metal Gear Solid 5 may be coming as soon as February 24th of next year, if the date listing of Microsoft's store page is to be believed.

Microsoft is not the only store showing this. Rakuten, a Japanese electronics company is showing the same release date. Rakuten is the largest e-commerce site in Japan and one of the largest in the world.

In addition to this, though not as strong of evidence, Reddit user /u/mikefancypants posted a screen shot from his company's holding system showing the same street date as Microsoft's and Rakuten's release dates. This would not be the first time a leak on Reddit pointed to the future release date of a game, as early this year another Reddit user provided the accurate release date of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U release date.

As of now, the fifth installment in Hideo Kojima's franchise of Tactical Espionage Action is slated for "early 2015", with nothing more specific added. Earlier this year many believed the release date to be accidentally leaked by The Guardian, but Konami quickly cleared up the misunderstanding. February 24th would mean a Tuesday release date for the game, whereas games typically release on Fridays and Saturdays. The end of February marks the beginnings of the spring game release season. Many games come out during this time period in order to avoid the heavy competition during Christmas time, or if they could not meet the deadline to be ready by Christmas.

Hideo Kojima's webcast "Kojima Station" is scheduled for its next episode on Christmas Day, perhaps Kojima will clear things up or maybe even confirm the release date as a Christmas gift!

We'll update this story as it develops, and add any other sites which feature their own release dates, matching or otherwise.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is set to release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Ps4, Ps3, and Windows PC next year. For more news on the game, and other potentially leaks, check back to TechRaptor.net.

What do you think? Does the end of February seem too close? Are these matching release dates just a coincidence? Sound off in the comments below and tell us what you think!
