More information was revealed about the mystery Pokemon Meltan today via the official Pokemon YouTube Channel. This Pokemon first seen as disguised Ditto appeared in Pokemon GO after last months Chikorita Community day. Today it seems we’ve learned more about when and how we can expect to acquire it.

In the first video, we see professors Oak and Willow once again talking about their continued research into the new Pokemon. Professor Oak explains that he found a box that he thought would be tied to Meltan but after opening it there was no luck. After sending Willow receives this “Mystery Box” from Oak and he tries opening it in nature suddenly Meltan appear. This may give reference to some kind of item being transferrable from the upcoming Pokemon Let’s Go titles for Switch allowing players in Pokemon Go to get access to real Meltan. This video ends once again with a “To Be Continued…” message so we can expect to see another video in the near future leading up to Pokemon Let’s Go‘s release in November

That’s not all the Meltan news that was revealed today either as an evolution was teased in a second video showcasing Meltan appearing in the wild. After seeing some Meltan playing and exploring happily a group of them disappears in a white light before the evolved form is teased.

This news is also hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Pokemon from the Sinnoh region will be appearing in Pokemon Go soon. With the current Psychic event taking place it’s suspected, much like last year, that we will start to see Gen IV Pokemon rolling out for the Halloween event.

Update: Accompanying the above news an in-game update for Pokemon Go reveals that later on this year a new Special Research event will be added accompanying the Mew and Celebi Special Research for players to begin working towards earning their own Meltan.

What do you think of this new information on the mysterious Pokemon Meltan? What do you think of the giant silhouette of Meltan’s evolved form?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
