Mordhau has sold just shy of 500,000 copies in its first week on sale. The game managed to reach a peak of 60,000 concurrent players this past Sunday and is top of the Steam Top Sellers list at time of writing.

The news came via a forum post recapping Mordhau's first week. Developer Triternion thanks players and Kickstarter backers for making these numbers happen, describing the game's success as "just mindblowing". The studio also sets out a number of improvements it's hoping to bring to Mordhau in the future. Triternion says it's aware of several issues people are having and that it's working to fix them. These issues include spotty matchmaking in certain regions, as well as a couple of matchmaking-related bugs. The studio's focus is currently on the "Ghost Bug" which causes players to spawn into maps unable to interact with or attack anything. It's also looking into some critical map exploits.

In terms of future updates, Triternion says it's working on two new maps: Castello and Feitoria. The studio also wants to implement Ranked and Competitive modes in Mordhau, starting with duels, although there's no timeline on these features as yet. New armor pieces and weapon skins will periodically be added, and Triternion is looking into releasing modding tools in the future. Again, no timeline on that; the studio says it's "terrible when it comes to estimating things". The future for Mordhau looks bright. Triternion is happy with how the game is balanced right now, but there are "lots of ideas for improvements to the maps and game modes" floating around. We'll bring you more on Mordhau as it happens.

Mordhau is a multiplayer medieval arena combat game created by Slovenian studio Triternion. The game casts players as a mercenary engaging in both small- and large-scale warfare. It's currently available on Steam for $29.99.
