Following our recent coverage of Mass Effect: Andromeda and the PlayStation 4 Pro; it would seem that despite the hardware upgrade, the upcoming Bioware title is expected to run at 30fps on both PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

In an interview with Gamespot, Mass Effect Producer Fabrice Condominas provided this detail at the PlayStation Meeting held just yesterday.

And it doesn't just seem like Bioware won't be making use out of the console for extra frame rates. In another interview from Gamespot, Jason Connell of Sucker Punch Productions also told the publication that PS4 Plus versions of Infamous: Second Son and First Light will be running on the same framerates as the original versions. As previously reported on Eurogamer, Second Son is another title that primarily runs between 30-40 fps.

In a pre-alpha build of the game, the Mass Effect: Andromeda demo showed off the title running on PlayStation 4 Plus hardware (4k resolution). Within this demo, it showed off our main character exploring an uncharted planet, using a jetpack ability at certain parts as well. In addition, the title also detailed some new scanning technology and an all new mysterious race known as the Remanent.

Mass Effect Andromeda is expected to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4/4 Pro, and PC in 2017. PlayStation 4 Pro is slated to release on November 10 at the cost US $399 / £349 / Aus $560.

Quick Take

Well, this is certainly not the news I was expecting. Especially considering the pretty gameplay demo that EA/Bioware just showed off recently. Still, as Eddie Makuch pointed out in the Gamespot piece; the title is still in pre-alpha stages, so it is possible that EA might look into boosting the performance during the development cycle.

Then again, if the developers are looking at implementing some multiplayer elements like what they did with Mass Effect 3; that too could explain why Bioware are set to keep the performance consistent on all platforms. As we know PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Plus will be compatible with one another, which is why developers like Naughty Dog have told us that they ensure to keep the framerate consistent to avoid console disadvantages. At this point of time, seems like the only advantage of owning a PS4 Plus is for improved resolution and shinier graphics for multiplayer games.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you excited for Mass Effect: Andromeda? Will you be looking at getting a PlayStation 4 Pro to play it? Or do you think the console is just not worth it? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
