Do you own a 4K TV? Are you one of the people who liked Mass Effect Andromeda? Good news: the game has received an update which adds 4K support on Xbox One X.

The patch is around 1.7GB in size and allows the game to display in 3840x2160 resolution - great news for those with massive TVs. This update officially means that Mass Effect Andromeda is "Xbox One X Enhanced", a label also applied to games like Assassin's Creed OdysseyMiddle-Earth: Shadow of War, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

The PS4 version of Mass Effect Andromeda comes with HDR support and also allows the game to display at Ultra HD resolution. PS4 users can also enjoy improved visuals, textures, and lighting on that particular console. Of course, the game displaying in 4K on Xbox One X doesn't change the game itself at all, but it is a nice concession to those who liked the game's breathtaking visuals.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the latest in the Mass Effect sci-fi RPG series, and the first installment in the main franchise not to feature Commander Shepard as the protagonist. The game instead focuses on either Scott or Sara Ryder (depending on which sex the player picks for the character), who must find a new place for humanity to settle while dealing with the Kett, a hostile alien race. The game received mixed reviews on release, with some praising its combat and visuals (hence the 4K patch, we suppose) while others criticized what they perceived as narrative and technical flaws.

While you wait for that 4K patch to install on your Xbox One X, you can check out what TechRaptor's very own Robert Grosso thought of Mass Effect Andromeda right here.
