Bioware's Mass Effect: Andromeda has been doing quite well for itself in the UK this week, entering the GfK charts at number one. Mass Effect: Andromeda is the 4th entry in the series and takes place 600 years after the events of the original trilogy in a completely new galaxy filled with new mysteries and a variety of aliens to establish first contact with. Despite critical reception towards the game being mixed, the game has still managed to perform admirably in its first week of shelf life. Note that the GfK Charts deal with physical sales only so it doesn't include digital sales.

Here's the full top 10:

  1. Mass Effect: Andromeda
  2. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  3. LEGO Worlds
  4. Horizon Zero Dawn
  5. Grand Theft Auto V
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  7. FIFA 17
  8. Rocket League
  9. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  10. Forza Horizon 3
Mass Effect: Andromeda has performed really well despite the controversy surrounding the (admittedly pretty awful) facial animations. Even though Mass Effect: Andromeda has entered the charts in first place, it hasn't managed to outperform 2012's Mass Effect 3 in terms of week one sales. The divisive third game in the original franchise sold a third more in its first week than the newest entry into the franchise.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands also continues to do well, dropping to second place in the charts. Horizon Zero Dawn is still riding on the same wave that's been carrying them over the past few weeks, which saw them drop down 1 point this week to fourth. The creative building game LEGO Worlds also dropped down a bit compared to last week. The initial hype that got The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the top of the charts is slowly dying down and has been overtaken by Rockstar's money-printing game Grand Theft Auto V, which continues to do well despite having been out for several years at this point.

FIFA 17 still enjoys its pole position as the go-to soccer game, and the rocket-powered soccer game Rocket League has dropped one point and currently occupies the 8th spot on the chart. Rounding out the top 10 are Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and racing game Forza Horizon 3.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
