Idea Factory International has announced the Western Mary Skelter: Nightmares release date. The DRPG, which we previewed during E3, will release on September 19th in North America, and September 22nd in Europe. As previously announced the game will be available both digitally and physically and will come with PlayStation TV support out of the box. To commemorate the release date announcement, Idea Factory International has released a gameplay overview trailer for the title. We've embedded the trailer below.

If you missed our preview coming out from E3, Mary Skelter: Nightmares is a DRPG with just a few twists. Like in the popular DRPG series Etrian Odyssey, certain high-powered monsters move around the field. However, unlike in Etrian Odyssey games, these "Nightmares" will move in real time while the player is engaging in battles or traversing the dungeon. Beyond that, the game seems primed to allow players plenty of customization and looks to allow a lot of interactivity while exploring the games various dungeons. Needless to say, we liked what we saw, so look forward to our future review. On another note, we've got a few more screenshots that Idea Factory shared with today's news, and you can find them embedded at the bottom of the article.

Quick Take

Mary Skelter: Nightmares was definitely one of the games that stood out to me the most at last year's E3. I'm a big fan of DRPGs, and the Vita especially has been a great home for the genre in recent years. I've heard a lot of good coming from folks that imported the title, so I'm more than ready to try the game out for myself. Between this and NIS America's Demon Gaze 2, PlayStation gamers with a Vita in tow have a lot of DRPG love coming their way this holiday season!
