Higurashi When They Cry Hou

Manga Gamer has announced the release of the seventh chapter in the popular Doujin Soft visual novel series Higurashi When They Cry Hou, a re-release of the original series which went on to inspire the anime series When They Cry. The game was originally released back in 2005 in Japan and 2010 for the rest of the world and is now coming back with all new character art and all of the content and music intact, which is a first for a western release of the game.

The Higurashi When They Cry series is a murder mystery story set in a fictional Japanese village back in 1983 where each year someone is murdered and someone else disappears. Throughout the course of the different chapters of the story, the mystery deepens until eventually the murderer is unmasked and the town is made safe once again. The seventh chapter is titled Minagoroshi, which is a Japanese term meaning directly 'kill everyone', although in this case, the actual title is 'massacre', so you can imagine things get pretty grim at a certain point. Having said that, Higurashi When They Cry - Minagoroshi is considered teen rated at worst, so you don't have to worry too much about excessive violence or gore going on, at least on screen.

You can already pre-order the game over at Manga Gamer ahead of its release on July 18th of this year, and you can check out the trailer for the original version down below, although you should bear in mind that the game has been updated visually since it was released nearly a decade and a half ago.
