As announced at EA Play 2019, EA is bringing a closed beta for Madden 20 between June 14 and June 16th. The announcement was slightly pre-empted by a tweet from Melissa Bowman, launch director for the Madden franchise. Codes for the Madden 20 closed beta will be given out during EA Play in Los Angeles, or via social channels like on Twitter, Twitch, and Reddit. Much like Madden 19 you’ll be able to pick from four rosters and play online head-to-head matches with them. The main draws of Madden 20, Madden Ultimate Team and Faces of the Franchise won’t be available during this first beta period. Xbox One and PS4 owners have a chance to earn codes throughout the next week for the closed beta, with PC players having no chance to access this first beta.
The four teams available for the closed beta are as follows:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Los Angeles Rams
- New England Patriots
- New Orleans Saints
Football fans will note that these were the final four teams in the NFL playoffs last season. The beta will also be NDA restricted; if you happen to get a code, you’re unable to stream or post videoes of the beta whatsoever, and violating this agreement means you’ll lose access immediately. Support will largely be unable to offer support, as this is primarily a bug testing beta, but you will have access to a bug-reporting forum to discuss issues with other players. As this is just the first closed beta, there is a good chance more betas will come later this summer, as the release approaches. You’ll be able to check out the Madden 20 closed beta between June 14th and 16th, just after E3 closes.
