Waiting on tenterhooks for a Luigi’s Mansion 3 release date? You may not have to wait too much longer.

According to a shipping date notice sent out by Amazon Mexico to customers who pre-ordered the game, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will launch for Nintendo Switch on October 4th. Bear in mind this isn’t just a release date on the game’s Amazon store page. Instead, it’s an actual email which includes the ship date. If it’s accurate, then we’ve got less than three months to wait until the long-awaited ghost-hunting sequel hits stores.

It’s worth noting that Nintendo hasn’t confirmed or denied anything officially, so this is just a rumor at present. Still, as Nintendo Everything correctly notes, Amazon Mexico has previously leaked release dates for South Park: The Fractured But Whole and RPG Maker MV, both of which turned out to be legit. With that in mind, there could be some credence to this link. Obviously, don’t take it as gospel, but it’s probably safe to start getting excited about Luigi’s next adventure.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the third game in the Luigi’s Mansion spinoff series. The game follows Luigi as he takes a vacation to a luxury hotel with Mario, Princess Peach, and a group of Toads. Naturally, the vacation turns out to be a trap, and Luigi must once again hunt his way through a battalion of ghosts to save his friends and his brother. Luigi’s Mansion 3 will have a more open-ended structure than its predecessors. Each floor of the hotel will be based around a different theme, each with its own atmosphere and mechanics. There’s also a multiplayer mode called ScareScraper which will support up to eight players both locally and online.

Dark Souls changed my life, and I'm here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
