A limited edition Detective Pikachu card is going to be given away during the premiere weekend of the movie of the same name. People who attend the film when it releases this May will be able to get their hands on a very special card for the Pokemon Trading Card game — as long as they're lucky enough to get it before supplies run out.
As noted in a news post on the Pokemon website, the Detective Pikachu Card will only be available in limited quantities for the weekend of the movie's premiere: May 10, 2019. This Pokemon Trading Card Game card has 90 HP and two abilities: Coffee Break for 1 Normal Energy will heal 30 damage and Corkscrew Punch can cause 20 damage for 2 Normal Energy. That's not all that attendees will get; a second card from the currently available cards for the Pokemon Trading Card Game will also be included with this package.
The release of this limited edition card continues a tradition that has existed since the first Pokemon movie arrived in US theaters. Since then, this particular marketing tie-in has remained a tradition for the movies whenever they were shown.
Detective Pikachu is going to be the first live-action Pokemon movie. Detective Harry Goodman has gone missing and his 21-year-old son Tim wants to find him with the help of Detective Pikachu. The film was originally intended to launch in the Summer of this year, but the release date for the film has since been moved up to May 10, 2019.
Tickets for Detective Pikachu are available for purchase now and are likely to go quick for the premiere weekend, so it's probably best to get them before they're all gone! You'll only have one chance to get your hands on one of these Limited Edition Detective Pikachu cards without dropping a crazy amount of cash on eBay.
