NIS America announced that gorgeous puzzle-platformer The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince will be coming to PS4 and Switch sometime in 2019. Initially revealed as part of the “Summer of Nippon Ichi” livestream, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince released at the end of May in Japan. NIS America is offering a collector’s edition for pre-order on their store, which comes with a picture book and a soundtrack collection in a limited box. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is set to release sometime next year on the Switch and PS4.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince tells the tale of a princess and a prince, brought together by unfortunate circumstance. The little prince wanders into the forest one day, searching for a lonely wolf. The prince, unfortunately, startles the wolf, who swipes at and blinds the prince. The wolf then transforms into a princess, so she can protect the prince from the dangers of the forest. The two must now adventure deeper and deeper into the woods, in hopes of restoring the prince’s sight. Different puzzles in The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince will require you to switch between either the wolf or the princess form. Challenges requiring the brute strength of the wolf are interspersed with obstacles demanding the wit of the princess.

According to Nippon Ichi, the idea behind The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince stemmed from a female web developer. Invited to share ideas during development days, staff members working at Nippon Ichi have spawned games like htoL#NiQ before. Now, combining the design talents of Nippon Ichi with gorgeous pencilwork in a “bittersweet love story” seems like a great way to commit to the ideas of their employees. We’ll get our chance to guide The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince through a forest of nightmares sometime next year.
